Keeping Mystery Alive (Even When Life Gets Crazy)

Posted on May 12, 2026 by Sincerely T

I didn’t mean to disappear for two months. Life just… did what life does. Bills to pay, appointments to attend, rooms to clean, taxes to calculate. Before I knew it, the days stacked into weeks, and the weeks into a quiet absence here.

Something interesting happened in that stretch of busyness: I realized how quickly mystery and whimsy slip from our days if we’re not paying attention. Mystery is subtle. It waits patiently until we come up for air and look for it again.

The latest library letter drop!

The Cost of Busyness

When life gets loud, we tend to reach for efficiency by cutting out anything that doesn’t feel “essential.” And mystery, by its nature, is gloriously inefficient! It asks us to pause and wonder, to follow a thread without knowing where it leads.

But I notice how flat life feels without the sense that something unexpected might be waiting around the corner. There’s been no possibility that a stranger might find a letter tucked behind a park bench and feel curious about their own life for a moment.

Return to Creating Letters

So here I am, a little rumpled from the whirlwind, but carrying a fresh batch of letters ready to be released into the world! They’re stacked on my desk right now, sealed and waiting. Each one is a small rebellion against the grind. A reminder that even in the busiest seasons, we can choose to leave room for wonder. We can create something that doesn’t have a measurable outcome. We can become the source of someone else’s unexpected moment.

These letters are my way of keeping mystery alive—not just for the people who find them, but for myself.

Next series of letters…ready to go.

What’s Next

Over the next few weeks, these new letters will be tucked into the corners of everyday places (think movie theaters, grocery store shelves, bus stops, library stacks, and places where people least expect to be surprised.)

If you find one, it’s yours! If you don’t, maybe you’ll feel the ripple anyway.

Mystery has a way of doing that.

If your own life has been crazy lately, consider this your invitation to reclaim a little wonder. It doesn’t have to be big or perfect – just something that reminds you the world is still full of hidden doors.

Let’s keep the mystery alive.

Did you find a letter?

(we'd love to know!)

THE IDEA

Leave artfully crafted letters in public places for random people to find.

THE PUROSE

Make a stranger's day the slightest bit more interesting than it would otherwise be.

THE CHALLENGE

Do small, simple, curious acts of kindness wherever and however possible.
