Just for You: Kindness. Folded Neatly. Lurking in Public Places

Posted on November 13, 2025November 13, 2025 by Sincerely T

I started this blog because I want to make my little art projects and share them. I want to plant tiny seeds of joy and curiosity around my town and other places I visit. I want to brighten someone’s day in some small way.

I hope to encourage others to plant their own seeds of wonder, start their own art project, or write that short story that’s been knocking inside their head for years.

Sincerely, T is an idea I’ve kept to myself for eight years. Until now. My mission is to create artfully crafted hand-written letters containing positive or encouraging messages and leave them in public places for someone to find. I like to believe just the right person will find each letter. I like to think the message contained inside will be just what they need to hear on that particular day. Sometimes life is magical like that.

In these provocative times, I want to remember it’s okay to have a bit of fun and to wonder, “How can I add a spark to a stranger’s day?” There is a place for outrage and clenched fists. But there seems to be an inordinate amount of that. I’d rather represent the cool, subtle breeze on a hot, angry day. I’m not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. If you’re looking for current event banter, you can easily find that anywhere. But if you’re craving a sip of sweet tea for your parched throat…I hope you’ll find a smile here. Glad you stopped by. 🙂

Experimenting with new letter designs.

    Dear T,

While packing up our library branch for its renovation, we discovered your letter waiting quietly among the shelves. In the midst of boxes and change, your words felt like the cool, subtle breeze you describe: unexpected, gentle, and deeply welcome.

Libraries are built on curiosity, kindness, and the belief that beauty hides in ordinary places; finding your note here felt especially right. You planted a seed of joy. On a week full of logistics, you reminded us that magic still slips through the cracks, and that sometimes the right message really does find the right people.

Thank you for leaving wonder behind for strangers, for choosing sweetness over outrage, and for believing in hidden treasures. We’ll carry that spirit with us as we close our doors for now and look ahead to reopening.

    With gratitude and smiles,
The Staff of Eugene Field Branch Library

Did you find a letter?

(we'd love to know!)

THE IDEA

Leave artfully crafted letters in public places for random people to find.

THE PUROSE

Make a stranger's day the slightest bit more interesting than it would otherwise be.

THE CHALLENGE

Do small, simple, curious acts of kindness wherever and however possible.
